Maintenance and Improvements

It is our aim to keep our housing in good condition and to ensure that the basic standard of our properties is continuously being improved. We do this by having both "cyclical programmes" for regular repeat maintenance and "major improvements programmes" to substantially upgrade our properties.

As part of our first major improvement programme, between 1995 and 2000, we made sure that all our properties were fitted with double glazing, high security doors and loft insulation.

In the year 2000 we contacted all our tenants and asked them how best we could improve their homes. As a result of this consultation process we set up two new improvement programmes to modernise kitchens, bathrooms, electrical installations and heating systems. We expect to complete these improvements by 2011. And until these properties are fully up to our high standards the tenants effected will receive a discount off their rent.

Between April 2005 and April 2006 we spent £1.6 million on repairs and improvements to properties. And since 1995 we have spent over £16 million on our housing stock.
